Andrew Lu
Post-doctoral Fellow
Andrew is a biological circuit engineer building the next generation of programmable medicines. He completed his PhD at Caltech with Michael Elowitz through the UCLA-Caltech MD-PhD Program. At Caltech, he helped establish synthetic protein circuits as a new modality to treat human disease, developing core design principles for circuits that can sense disease signatures inside cells and reroute them towards targeted therapeutic outputs.
As a FutureHouse Fellow, Andrew is closing the loop between AI-driven design and experimental validation to accelerate the discovery of programmable therapeutics. These therapies will expand how cells sense, compute, and act inside the human body.
